Francesca Day falls in love with Dallas, whom she perceives as having a beauty comparable with hers. She begins fantasizing about a happy ending for both of them when his estranged wife returns to town. Nearly a decade later, she learns the hard way of living and emerges to become a successful television personality. She meets up with Dallas again and finds that love is tougher but stronger the second time around. When Dallas discovers that he has been an absentee father for almost 10 years, he is furious with Francesca for keeping his son a secret from him. When he sees that Francesca has changed into a stronger person, he begins to fall in love with her. He also admires how she has brought up their son. However Francesca doesn't accept his love easily for she knows that Dallas still hesitates committing which is caused by his past experiences.
