Book Review By Gerry Arquillo
Fluke: Or, I Know Why the Winged Whale Sings by Christopher Moore

Nathan Quinn, a marine biologist has been studying humpback whales for years, trying to figure out if their song has any great meaning behind it.His big adventure starts when one day off the coast of Hawaii he sees a humpback whale with a message written under it's tail. The message reads "Bite Me", he can't believe what he is seeing. Nate along with his other crew members, Clay the photographer, Amy his research assistant, and Kona a wacky self-proclaimed Rastafarian. This crew has an elderly and very weatlhy benafactor who receives phone calls supposedly from a whale asking for a pastrami sandwich. The crew begins to suffer setbacks when their equipment and the data they have gathered gets sabotaged. Then crew memebers start to disappear, and Nate discovers a very strange world as he sets out to find them. What follows is a very different, and amusing view of life under the sea, among the Humpback and Blue whale popluation. Get ready for a new twist to the idea of how and why the earth was populated. You will also learn what really happened to Amelia Earhart, and what the Humpback whales song is really saying. All in all, a very amusing and entertaining book, as long as you don't take it too seriously.
