Book Review By Sierra Hopper
Shielder by Catherine Spangler

Nessa dan Ranul is a Shielder. In the vast galactic world ruled by the horrible Controllers, the Shielders have become their mission to destroy. Now Shielder must live in remote colonies, hidden away from the dark Controllers lest their kind be exterminated. And because of these dire times, weak Shielders cannot be tolerated within the colonies.
Nessa is one such Shielder. Suffering from seizures and a gimpy leg, she has been shunned from her family and her people, kept alive only by her brother, who dearly seeks to protect her. But when a deadly virus fatal only to Shielders begins to spread throughout the colonies, Nessa knows she is the only one who can carry the incubating virus to the faraway colony with the technology to find a cure.
On her trek, she finds herself stranded in space, her tiny vessel unable to funstion. She is picked up by Chase McKnight, a hansdome bounty hunter for the relentless Controllers. Forced to hide her identity as a Shielder, Nessa has no choice but to rely on him to get her to her destination, or as close to it as she can without giving away her colonies or her people.
Chase, a former renowned doctor, has turned to bounty hunting because of another deadly virus, and hides his pain behind a hard exterrior. He has no interest in petty Controller problems, and seeks only those hardened criminals and the one who destroyed his life, for they only deserved the harsh death-sentence handed out by the Controllers. As he finds himself falling in love with his new passenger, Chase struggles to hunt his past as a mysterious air hangs around this little female.
