Book Review By Sandra Calhoune
Accidental Hero by Loralee Lillibridge

Abby Houston is barely making ends meet running the family ranch and working part-time as a waitress at the Blue Moon Cafe. Abby has just started an equine therapy program at the ranch and she is determined to see the program succeed. When Abby's father Buck informs her that her former lover, Bo Ramsey, has returned to her hometown of Sweet River, Texas, Abby is floored by the news. Bo and Abby were sweethearts and destined for marriage until Bo took up with bad girl Marla, got her pregnant and then married her instead of Abby. Abby's heart has never healed from Bo's desertion and betrayal. When Bo returns to Sweet River, Abby realizes that he is not the same Bo that left town. After having been badly injured in a bull riding accident, Bo is now scarred in the face and dealing with a severely lame leg. Abby is still desperately attracted to Bo, although she despises him for leaving her for another woman. Unbeknownst to Abby, Bo's marriage to Marla dissolved when Bo discovered that Marla faked her pregnancy in order to force Bo to marry her. When Shorty Packer, Bo's good friend, approaches Abby about giving Bo a job on her ranch, Abby is disgusted at the idea of lending a helping hand to the man who jilted her. But when Bo demonstrates an ability to work with the sick children in her equine therapy program, Abby has no choice but to hire him on. As Abby and Bo begin spending more time together, they both begin to realize that old feelings run deep. Neither of them has stopped loving the other. Although Abby comes to the realization that she still loves Bo deeply, she isn't certain that she can forgive and forget his past indiscretions.
