Drake Wilder, is the bastard son of a nobleman who is bent on getting revenge on his father, who denies his existence. In order for him to complete his revenge, he must marry a lady of noble birth who can gain him entrance into society events. Drake owns a gambling establishment, which has gained him great wealth, and he uses it to trap Lady Alicia Pemberton's younger brother into great debt.
   Lady Alicia's family has been in dire straits since the suicide of her father, and the mental decline of her mother, so when her brother comes home one night confessing to gambling away their home, Alicia see no other recourse but to meet Drake's terms of marriage to save her family.
    As the couple enters into matrimony, they discover they have a great passion for each other, but first they must get past the deception used to secure Alicia's agreement in marriage, as well as, finding the shocking truth to Drake's past.
