Book Review By BethG
Fruitcake by R.J. Kaiser

Everyone thought Del Pritchard was a nut, crazy, in other words a fruitcake. He kept mumbling about conspiracies. One day he engaged Gabe Rose, a Sacramento attorney to look into the conspiracy. Before the day is out, Pritchard turns up dead. Gabe had some recent bad luck of his own and was broke. He thought the man was probably loony too, but badly needed the $5,000 retainer Pritchard had given him. He felt like he needed to do something to earn the money. Before he can get started though he finds himself a suspect in Pritchard's death because a man and a cop were shot while trying to steal Pritchard's materials from Gabe's car. Gabe honestly don't know why anyone would be after the man's papers, but the fact they were, convinces Gabe that maybe Pritchard wasn't nuts after all.   Pritchard's cousin Margot, also an attorney, comes to Sacramento to settle her cousin's estate and attend the funeral. The two join forces to attempt to find out what Del was up to. Margot finds a secret room in her aunt's house where Del had all kinds of bank statements and credit reports. They soon uncover a bank scam of huge proportions. But who is behind it? Whoever it was had Del killed for what he knew. And the killer was double-crossed because now he is after them. Gabe and Margot must find out who killed Pritchard before he kills them.
