Celebrity artist Genevieve “Gennie” Grandeau travels to a little village of Windy Point to draw inspiration for her next set of paintings. Planning to stay only for 6 months to paint the scenic views of Windy Point, she sets out on an adventure to find the best spot to paint. One day after hours of painting, she has been caught by a sudden storm. She drives to a nearby lighthouse to find shelter. But what she discovers is a mysterious handsome man living in the lighthouse apparently owning the place. Grant Campbell has no patience for visitors or strangers or lost tourists; and Gennie is no exception. However seeing that she won't be able to drive back to her rented cottage in the stormy weather, he reluctantly welcomes her in his home for refuge. The following day, Gennie returns back to her cottage after being told off by Grant that she needs to get lost because she is disrupting him in his work. Gennie goes home but without missing the marvelous view of the sea beside the lighthouse. She returns to the lighthouse intending to draw the view. When Grant sees her sketching there, he discovers that she is the new and famous artist Genevieve Grandeau. Grant doesn't want her sketching in his property for paparazzi follows Gennie and he wants to keep his life private. But after some debate, Grant relents and tells Gennie that as long as she doesn't disturb him, she can paint there. Her constant presence near his home and his undeniable attraction to her makes it hard for Grant to resist her charms. Gennie wants to prove to that Grant is irresistible to her charms. And as they spend time with each other, getting to know one another, they fall into an intimate relationship which neither of them won't define. Grant for the first time allows another person to be close to him. However because his is afraid to be vulnerable and hurt again, he still keeps things for himself – not telling Gennie his work or private thoughts. He is scared of what he feels for Gennie. Gennie loves Grant wholly but his elusiveness makes it hard for her to express what she truly feels. She sees Grant with his sister and his newly extended family and realizes how Grant doesn't mingle too close and keeps himself apart. It appears that whatever intimacy they have shared, Grant cannot fully give himself to another person. When she stumbles across Grant's work, Grant is furious telling her that she has no right to look at his work. She is hurt that after what they have shared together for the past weeks, she would still be shut out from a part of his life. She decides to go back to her home in New Orleans and never see Grant again. Grant is upset and miserable when Gennie left. He realizes that he really wants her in his life and wants to share a lifetime with her. Hoping that it's not yet over between them, he tries to make a desperate and sincere attempt to show her how he loves her so much.
