Book Review By Katrina Lo
Body Language by Suzanne Brockmann

Sandy Kirk and Clint MacCade have been the best of friends since childhood. They keep in touch and see each other when their work permits. Clint has been always a happy-go-lucky guy never wanting to commit to a person or stay in one place. His work as a photographer allows him the freedom that he wants. But recently he has been thinking of Sandy too much. He'll be on a location and then suddenly he will think and miss Sandy's condo unit. He doesn't want to explore his feelings too much less his relationship with Sandy changes. What he doesn't know is that Sandy has been feeling attracted to him for years. However she too is afraid to go into a relationship with him for fear that they would lose their friendship.
When Sandy makes a big announcement that she's in love with another man named James, Clint is devastated. Here he is finally home at Sandy's place after a long time having realized that he loves her only to tell him that she's in love with another guy. Sandy also asks him if he can shoot her advertisement with a campaigning governor candidate. Because he wants to be near Sandy, Clint agrees. But seeing Sandy trying so hard to get the attention of her man moves Clint to help her. Clint decides to give Sandy some pointers on how to communicate her feelings to the man. When he demonstrates some body languages for Sandy, the atmosphere between them gets heated. No matter what pointers Clint gives her, Sandy can't feel comfortable with any man except Clint. She always compares James with Clint. But knowing that she has no chance with Clint, Sandy tries harder to get James' affection. When his advice seems to work, Clint is torn between parting them and bringing them together.
Finally Clint in a drunken moment reveals to Sandy that he loves her. Sandy can't believe it if it was true or not. When Clint definitely shows that he wants her and repeats his love for her, Sandy is ecstatic and returns her love. But it all comes crashing down when she finds out, albeit mistakenly, that Clint will be leaving for another job. Knowing his penchant for leaving when the mood strikes him and his attitude towards commitment, Sandy doesn't expect much from him. When a brawling incident involves Sandy's client and Clint, Sandy is furious with Clint telling him that it's better that he goes. Clint goes off and Sandy is miserable. Sandy learns only later that Clint is serious with her and she runs to search for Clint before he's gone.
