The Guardian by Nicholas Sparks

Julie Barenson, who after four years, has finally moved on from the sudden death of her beloved husband named Jim, and is now ready to face a new chapter of her life, is know ready to commit herself to a right man. But because of fate, she happens to meet a man, Richard Franklin, who was nice at first but eventually became mean.

The novel focuses on romantic love between two people, Mike Harris and Julie, who have known each other for a long time for Mike was a good friend of Jim. They started as friends and later realized that they are in love with each other. Conflict came because Julie, before going out with Mike, has dated men she met at her work including Richard, unfortunately. Richard treated her like a “princess” for he would spend much money for their dates. When Julie backed off him, he pleaded but Julie's decision was firm. So what Richard did was he forced himself to Julie and worse, stalked her. It scares Julie and the rest of the characters because of Richard's weird actions. But because of Mike and Julie's love, they have conquered it.
