| When Twlya Gay moves to Dallas, Texas from Lubbock, she is totally unprepared for the social scene at her new high school. Although Twyla believes she has made friends with one of her classmates, Myrna Fry, she begins to realize that Myrna's only goal is to make a laughing stock out of her. Myrna loves the reigning beauty queen of the school, Jeanette Sue. Although Jeanette Sue treats Myrna like a dog, Myrna will do anything to fit into Jeanette's clique, called the Ruling Class. Myrna considers herself a member of the RC's and enjoys the idea of harassing new girl, Twyla. Twyla is a humble girl from a working class single parent household. All Twyla wants to do is graduate from high school, attend a good college and make a decent life for herself. Now, as a target of the RC's, Twyla's current situation is jeopardized. Twyla doesn't know how to stand up to the RC's or deal with their ruthless pranks. When Tywla gains the attention of Jeanette Sue's love interest, Ryder, the harassment gains momentum and Twyla's life is placed in danger by a reckless prank. Having had enough of the harassment, Twyla decides that she needs to take action to bring down the RC's, and Jeanette Sue in particular. Twyla teams up with a Hispanic student named Deena who has been labeled a slut by the RC's and trashed all over the school.
