As with all Gerald Seymour stories, there are several characters whose storyline he develops, bringing them all together in the finale. So, there is a disgraced British soldier, dossing down in a desperately poor housing estate in London, fortunately befriended by a welfare worker who has a policeman friend who convinces the soldier to help clear out some drug pushers working on the same estate. Having succeeded in that, the soldier is persuaded by the police character to move on to finding and dealing with the supplier and then the importers.
Meanwhile, a group of criminals in Germany is intent on bringing into the UK an Arab terrorist, using the trawler belonging to the above-mentioned drug importers. These criminals are being tracked by MI6 who wish to allow this event to take place so that they can catch even more terrorists once the Arab arrives. The disgraced soldier has his own agenda, both in dealing with the drug cartel and rehabilitating himself after his charge of cowardice whilst in the army was sustained. The story moves from England to Germany and back to England. | ||
