Snow Blind by P.J. Tracy

With the discovery of two bodies found within melting snowmen, the Minneapolis Police department is on the hunt for a double cop killer. Margozzi and Rolseth are tasked with hunting down the killer which brings them into contact with rookie Sheriff Iris Rikker who, on her first day in the job, has to deal with a third melting snowmanbody. Set in the desolated winter landscape of Lake Kittering, the hunt for the killer leads to an enclave in the middle of nowhere which is home to 400 or so abused women, policed by their own female security guards and not a male in sight for miles. When a fugitive parolee goes on the trail of his own abused wife to finish off the job, the two civilisations come face to face with an unforeseen outcome.

With the help of the Monkeewrench team the MPD is provided with information leading to a disturbing tale of family skeletons and vengeance meted out decades ago. That this same family was instrumental in setting up the enclave points the police to the current remaining members of the family but is there sufficient evidence to solve the crimes? Newcomer Iris Rikker finds out the hard way that being a police officer has its bad days, that even police officers can be more than abusive and Margozzi and his garrulous partner Gino Rolseth have to decide how to use the evidence they have in order to solve the crime.
