Book Review By Sandra Calhoune
The Nanny by Melissa Nathan

When nanny Jo Green turns 24 she finds herself reflecting on her life. She's totally bored living in the town of Niblet upon Avon and her romantic relationship with her long-term boyfriend Shaun is going nowhere. Although Shaun has repeatedly proposed to Jo, she has turned him down every single time. Although Jo cares for Shaun, she yearns for a different life than the one she is living. When Jo stumbles across an advertisement for a London nanny position, she finds herself impulsively answering the ad. Once Jo arrives in London she is amazed to find herself at the palatial home of Dick and Vanessa Fitzgerald, who are the parents of three precocious children: Tallulah, Zak and Cassie. Dick also has two older children from a previous marriage. When the Fitzgeralds offer Jo the nanny position, she surprises herself by accepting the job. Jo's parents are traumatized by her new position and by the fact that their little girl is leaving the nest to live in London. Shaun is depressed over the fact that Jo is ditching their relationship in order to work in London. Although Shaun is pessimistic about their future, Jo convinces him that they can make it work long-distance. Working for the Fitzgeralds and living in London is a major lifestyle change for Jo, who can't believe the posh nature of the Fitzgerald's lifestyle. Furthermore, she is so incredibly busy with the three children that she doesn't even have time to miss home or talk to Shaun on the phone. When Dick's 25 year old son Josh suddenly moves into the Fitzgerald's home and is forced to share a room with Jo, she finds herself irresistibly attracted to the sexy accountant. But when Shaun suddenly shows up in London in order to reconnect with Jo, she finds herself in a quandary.
