The Bride and The Beast by Teresa Medeiros

The Laird of Clan MacCullough was planning on hiding Bonnie Prince Charlie from the English redcoats, but was traitored by one of his own clansmen. The redcoats surrounded and attacked his castle leaving the Laird dying and his family for dead. He died cursing his clansmen for not coming to his defense. 15 years later a being called the dragon inhabits the castle and terrorizes the remaining clansmen in the village in the valley below.

Gwendolyn Wilder is a 25 year old maiden who takes care of her aging father who went mad the night of the English attack and tries to keep her 3 wild sisters under control. One evening the "Dragon" sends demands to the village for food and 1000 in gold. The villagers take Gwendolyn to the castle and tie her to a stake hopeing to appease the monster. The monster unties her from the stake and they being a journey of discovery that bonds them together for life.

What the villagers do not know is that the "Dragon" is the now grown young son of the former laird come back to the Highlands to seek out the traitor and make him and the villagers pay for their cowardice of 15 years earlier. Even though he is falling in love with Gwendolyn he stays true to his course to uncover the identity of the traitor only to find that the person he seeks is her father.

Gwendolyn now finds herself torn between the love she has for the 2 men and finds that she now must fight with all she has to keep her husband and to save her father.
