Precedent of Justice by Patrick Raley

Detective Charlie Peppers is on the search for a vicious killer. Some has brutally murdered two of New Orleans' most elite. Being his first case as a lead detective makes it even more difficult. The problems continue to increase when an inventive reporter decides that getting stories from the sideline is not enough. The detective is quickly battling a murderer, a political battle, and an uncertain attraction.

Detective Peppers is seemingly mismatched with the person he lasts expects to be working in tandem with. Together the pair finds the answer to the murder becomes clearer. He gathers an airtight case and locks down on a heartless killer. As the story goes to trial and the sensation begins, the case inexplicably falls apart. Not only does the detective lose his case, but his career and his promising relationship fall completely apart.

Just as all seems lost, an unexpected opportunity falls into his lap. A new murder, a new case, and a restored relationship bring the promise of restored hope. The detective searches for the truth in the hopes that justice can be found.
