Jane Higgenbothem is a disgraced woman. During her first season, she used her artistic ability to create a nude sculpture of her crush, Lord Blackburn, and jealous debutante reveals the artwork to all the Ton. Desperate to explain, she goes to Lord Blackburn's alone, only they end up in a compromising situation which was viewed by a few members of society. Jane leaves London in shame, not to return until eleven years later to chaperone her niece into society.
Quint, Lord Blackburn, cannot believe Jane has returned all dowdy and dressed as a chaperone. He decides pretending to court her will be the perfect ruse to learn of the french spies that have infultrated the ton. As the couple grows closer, Jane finds that her feelings for Quint have grown into love. Quint cannot seem to keeps his hands off Jane, and in an ironic twist, the couple once again are found in a compromising situation. Quint and Jane marry after this incident, but the couple must realize their feelings for each other is truly love.
