Book Review By Jess
Midnight Jewels by Jayne Ann Krentz

Croft Falconer is a martial arts expert and a former private investigator. He lives an isolated life, immersed in the philosophy of violence. When he sees an ad for a rare edition of erotica which has ties to an old investigation, he goes on a search for answers. Three years ago Croft had been hired to break up an illegal cult, and it had ended in a deadly fire in which the cult leader and all of his rare books were thought to be destroyed. Croft realizes that if this book survived the fire than Egan Graves might have also escaped.
Croft tracks down Mercy Pennington, the woman who put the ad in the paper, in hopes of discovering how she got the book. When he finds her, he learns that she already has a buyer, and is immediatly suspicious. Mercy is supposed to hand deliver the book to a man named Gladstone, who lives in Colorado. Croft is determined to accompany her to discover if Gladstone is really Graves.
He uses the intense sexual attraction that he shares with Mercy to get her to trust him and agree to bring him along. Croft is disconcerted when he realizes that Mercy is capable of making him lose his self-restraint, and becomes determined to hug her. They begin to fall in love while visiting Gladstone's estate, but their relationship is put in jeapordy when it becomes apparent that Gladstone is intent on having them both killed.
