The Texan's Honor-Bound Promise by Peggy Moreland

Leah Kittrell is reeling from the death of her younger brother, who was serving as a soldier in Iraq. In order to fulfill her brother's promise of repairing his vintage Ford Mustang with his teenage son, Craig, Leah begins to look for a mechanic to work with Craig. Craig has been very troubled since the death of his father and Leah wants to give him something positive to work on during his period of mourning. When Leah places an advertisement in the paper for a mechanic she is stunned when drop dead gorgeous Sam Forrester shows up. Leah hires Sam in exchange for room and board and he begins the process of restoring the car. Leah, divorced for four years from her manipulative ex-husband, Louis, is powerfully attracted to Sam, who exhudes a rugged, All-american charm. Unbeknownst to Leah, Sam has a hidden agenda for showing up on her doorstep. Although masquerading as a mechanic, Sam is in actuality a United States soldier who is seeking information from Leah. Sam has been recruited by his buddy Mack to retrieve some records from Leah that could help the daughter of a Vietnam soldier who was MIA. Leah has an issue with soldiers, based on her own father being listed as an MIA in the Vietnam war, her own mother's suicide after years of researching her husband's MIA status and her brother's death in Iraq. As Leah and Sam live together under close confines they begin to realize that they share a powerful chemistry. As they begin to forge a relationship, Sam realizes that he is in love with Leah and wants to share a life with her. But looming over Sam's head is the fact that he has been lying to Leah and that his career as a soldier.
