Vengeance in Death by J.D. Robb

Investigator Eve Dallas gets a call from a mysterious man who tells her riddles that will lead to his crime. When Eve arrives on the scene, she is shocked by the gruesome way the victim died. The mysterious man doesn't stop there. He calls Eve again and leads her to another crime. Eve slowly figures that the victims have been associated with her husband in the past. When Eve tells her husband Roarke, he confides to her how he has one by one killed all the men responsible for his beloved friend's daughter's death. The criminal is apparently emulating the ways how those people in the past died under Roarke's hand. Eve discovers that the killer is targeting those people who helped Roarke in the past. However in one crime scene, Roarke's friend Sommerset has been implicated to be the suspect of the killings when his image appears in the surveillance video of the house of one victim. Roarke knows that Sommerset is innocent and Eve believes him too and she determinedly try to solve the mystery to acquit him of the crime. Roarke confides to Eve all the people who might have been involved with helping him in the past and Eve rushes to save them before the murderer can get to them. In the process Eve gets into a explosive accident when the murderer tries to stall Eve in her progress. Roarke becomes enraged and personally helps Eve find the killer before it's too late.
