She plans on opening a newspaper and bringing the word of the Ladies Temperance Society to the people of the new town. Blackie O'Neal is also on his way to the new town to open a saloon and bordello. Blackie and Lacey arrive at the same time and make it to the choice piece of land at the same time, forcing them to bring the dispute to the land office, which tells them they have six months until it is decided who the piece of land will go to.
The pair automatically make sparks fly with their arguments and diagreements, each of them coming up with schemes to run each other out of town. Lacey writes harsh editorials against Blackie and his Saloon and Blackie strikes back with some cruel pranks. When the two argue over the name of the town, each has decided to campaign for their choice.
Lacey comes up a plan with the other ladies in town to go on strike denying the men of the town cooking, cleaning and marital rights until their choice is made. Lacey's victory is short-lived when she finally gives in to the passion and growing love that she has been harboring for Blackie, as the pair make wild love only to be caught by half the town in a delicate situation.
