What a Lady Wants by Victoria Alexander

Lady Felicity Melville is a practical woman who is on the verge of spinsterhood. In a moment of desperation, she wishes upon a star that a man who is adventurous and exciting will come into her life and marry her, a few seconds later she sees a man jump over her garden wall.
Nigel Cavendish is widely known around town as a scoundrel and ladies man, and when he is caught in a delicate situation with another man's wife, he decides to escape through the back and over a wall. Seeing a girl standing on balcony with her telescope, he asks her for help in escaping. Felicity believes that fate has brought Nigel to her, and at that moment she vows to discover who he is and marry him.
Nigel fears marriage, not wanting to settle down, but as his father thrust responsibility into his lap, he finds himself drawn to Felicity, despite his vow to never marry. As the couple keep running into each other all over town, Nigel finds himself in a compromising situation with Felicity and is forced to marry her.
As the couple wed, Nigel finds himself fighting against the bonds of marriage, vowing to live his life as if he were single, but is thrown when Felicity agrees and says she wants to start living an carefree life herself.   Each day Nigel finds himself wanting to stay with Felicity instead of going out, only through communication can the couple work through there problems and settle into a marriage of love and happiness.
