Wife For Hire by Janet Evanovich

Maggie Toone wants to escape from her hometown where most people consider her as one of the 'crazies'. So when she gets a chance to run away to a remote US town, Skogen Vermont, where no one knows her, she ditches her job as a school teacher and decides to become Hank Mallone's 'wife on hire'.

Maggie also decides to use her time away to work on her first book based on her Aunt Kitty's diary.

Hank, a reformed rake, wants to prove to his father and the entire town that he is a changed man who has decided to settle down for good. He wants a loan from the bank to develop his apple-growing business but he will get that loan only if he convinces everyone that he is capable of commitment, and hence the fake marriage.

Both Hank and Maggie are attracted to each other but wonder what turn the relationship will take after the deal gets over.

To complicate things, someone is out to steal Aunt Kitty's diary and prevent Maggie from writing her book.

Will Hank and Maggie's budding relationship grow stronger or will they grown apart after Hank gets his bank loan and Maggie completes her book?
