Book Review By Amrita Nandagopal
Lovers by Judith Krantz

Lovers continues with where Scruples Two left us, but still manages to stand alone as a tempestuous tale of love, passion, lust and revenge.

Gigi Orsini decides to leave the sheltering boundaries of Scruples Two, the fashion catalogue that she helped set up, to take up a job as a copywriter at a budding new agency. Though two of the three owners of the agency - Archie and Bryon - are smitten by her charm and talent, Victoria Frost sees Gigi as her sworn enemy from day one.

But cool and icy Victoria has her own secrets. She is obsessed with her stepfather and has sworn to win him over from her own mother.

Meanwhile, Gigi breaks up her long-term affair with film director Zach Nevsky after they aregue over his lack of respect for her profession, and jumps into a brief, rebound affair with David, one of her colleagues at the agency.

Soon Gigi succeeds in winning a few accounts for the agency with her sheer talent. Victoria is forced to acknowledge Gigi's success, but secretly plans to bring her down.

The next man to enter Gigi's life is Ben Winthrop, a distant relative of her adoptive mother Billy. Billy's life is far from settled and she misses the excitement and fun she used to have while running Scruples.

Gigi's friend and Zach's sister, Sasha, is also having problems in her marriage.

Ben is keen to get married to Gigi, but she finds herself hesitating to make a commitment.
