This book starts off by introducing us to the main character: a teenaged girl named Winter in Brooklyn, New York. She was named after a really bad snow storm, but her life is even worse as the book progresses. She is a spoiled brat whose father is a drug king. Winter lives with her mother, her sisters, and (sometimes) her father. She is used to getting everything se wants--until her father's enemies retaliate by shooting her mother!
Eventually, her father gets caught by the FBI and they take EVERYTHING. Including her sisters who are put into the system. Winter lies her way out of foster care and starts shacking up with an older man to get her needs met. She later has to leave him because of his girlfriend. Winter sleeps around a lot and eventually her best friend snitches on her, so social services catches up with her. She is moved to a group home and continues her nasty habits. She betrays all her friends and her lies have started to pile up too much for her to handle. | ||
