Revenge Wears Prada by Lauren Weisberger

Revenge Wears Prada is a book written by Lauren Weisberger and is the sequel to the Devil Wears Prada. The story follows a young woman named Andy who, ten years ago, worked as an assistant to the successful Miranda who is the editor-in-chief of a respected fashion magazine and terrorizes her staff. Having quit this job so coveted in the world of fashion yet which job she could not keep due to her boss' erratic behavior and demands, Andy and a former coworker at that same magazine - Emily who is now her best friend - decide to start their own magazine. Andy is also madly in love with her boyfriend Max, a handsome man from a wealthy family, who proposed and she is set to marry. Andy is on top of the world until she finds a letter from Max's mother to him who urges him not to marry her since he has recently met his ex-girlfriend on a trip and there might be some feelings left between them - which encounter Max never mentioned to Andy. Andy confronts Max who comes clean and assures her nothing happened, nor will happen, hence Andy puts the letter out of her mind and they get married, and then move to an apartment in Chelsea.

Shortly thereafter, Andy learns she is pregnant and she gives birth to a daughter: Clementine. Having this newfound life, Andy feels she has left the past behind once and for all. Until one day, her former boss Miranda decides to acquire Andy's magazine. Emily wants her to acquire the magazine but Andy isn't convinced, even though Max is also encouraging her to sell. After consideration and after meeting with Miranda to realize she only wants total control of their magazine - and that Andy will therefore completely lose it - she decides to refuse the offer. Unfortunately, Max and Emily decide to go behind Andy's back to sell the magazine to Miranda which he was able to do since he had invested in the magazine. Andy is furious and divorces Max in addition to ending her friendship with Emily. Andy decides to become a writer and at the same time works for New York magazine.

One day, Alex runs into her ex-boyfriend that she used to be with while working for Miranda ten years ago. They go for lunch and he tells her he has a serious girlfriend, who is cheating on him. Alex eventually breaks up with his girlfriend and a year later he contacts Andy and tell her he is now available. In the end, Andy and Alex are together and Andy learns that Emily got fired from her own magazine upon Miranda's acquisition - as Andy had foreseen.
