Mockingjay - Hunger Games 3 by Suzanne Collins

Katniss must lead the rebellion against the Panem government. Katniss Everdeen has been unwittingly thrown into her role as the poster girl of the rebellion against her government, Panem. Katniss participates in propaganda campaigns that involve her pretending to be involved in the battle - activities which make her feel immensely hypocritical and useless towards the movement.

Peeta has been kidnapped and forced into destroying Katniss' reputation on national TV. In the process, he becomes "brainwashed" into truly thinking of Katniss as evil. Katniss manages to rescue him, though he is completely changed.

Katniss is normally not allowed to put herself in danger, but she is assigned to a low-key mission in the Capitol. During the mission, however, they are ambushed by various monsters. Katniss somehow makes it to President Snow's mansion only to see bombs landing on his grounds. One of the bombs kills Katniss' sister, Prim.

In a turn of events, the rebels win power and overthrow President Snow's regime. President Snow insinuates that the bombing was not his idea and Katniss begins to suspect that the leaders of the rebellion may have cold-heartedly planned the bombing in order to secure their win. Right before Katniss executes President Snow, she instead turns her arrow to the leader of the rebellion, killing her instead.

Katniss will eventually learn to heal herself from the tragic aftermath of the rebellion. She and Peeta will somewhat reconcile with each other and try to leave with the newfound peace Panem has regained.
