The story is about a young architect who finds a woman's spirit in his closet. The story is about a young architect who finds a woman's spirit in his closet. Laura is a young doctor and she lives in San Francisco. She decides to take a vacation but while she drives her car away from the city she has an unfortunate accident and she ends up in a coma. Arthur is an architect. He moves in his new San Francisco apartment and he finds a young woman hiding in the closet. She tells him that she is actually lying in a hospital bed and that she is a coma patient. She is astonished that he can actually see her. Her name is Laura and she can travel wherever she wants just by thinking at that place. One day she decided to visit her old apartment and Arthur surprised her. Arthur doesn't believe her so he decides to go to the hospital and see Laura's body for himself. Laura accompanies him and he finds her in her hospital bed. Arthur and Laura become friends and they talk a lot about different subjects. They find out that they have a lot in common. Arthur is falling in love with her and they become inseparable. Arthur's friends think that he is sick because he talks to himself all the time. His best friend, Paul, makes fun of him all the time but Arthur doesn't mind. After a while, Laura's mother and the doctors decide to end her suffering and pull the plug on her life support because there is nothing else that can be done. Arthur becomes desperate. He and Laura are the perfect couple even if nobody can see her and a lot of people think he is gone mad. He kidnaps her body from the hospital and hides her for a while. Arthur's crime is discovered and Laura's body ends up in the hospital bed. Arthur notices that her presence is getting weaker by the minute and he thinks that she is dying. When she disappears for good he goes into a long mourning period. He thinks that Laura is gone forever and he can not be consoled. Laura slowly recovers from her long coma but she doesn't remember Arthur and their love story.
