Book Review By Nick Warren
Rhinoceros by Colin Forbes

The latest outing for Britain's finest, clean-cut MI6 agents Tweed, Paula Grey and Bob Newman finds them up against the Elite Club, an organisation bent on causing terror attacks and riots across Europe in order for a right-wing dictatorship to seize control of the EU. Using refugees and a professional assassin called Mr Blue, chaos ensues but soon MI6's best are on the case. But who is Mr Blue? How does Swiss banker Oskar Vernon fit into the Elite Club and whose side is he really on? Action sweeps into northern Germany when Tweed and his team are attacked. Paula Grey is kidnapped. Very soon, MI6 discover that a high-ranking politician in the White House has a major part to play. Overall, a very intriguing and mildly original scenario which is sadly spoilt by an ending straight out of AUSTIN POWERS. However, the narrative and the build-up are very typical of Forbes's superb earlier work such as THE JANUS MAN and SHOCKWAVE, hence the 8 rating.
