Duane came from little, managed to amass a fortune, then, thanks to an oil glut, comes close to losing it all, figuritively and mentally. His children are out of control, his wife, Karla, believes in "open marriage" and she's frequently out of sorts with Duane because he doesn't take to that lifestyle with the same gusto as she. His main complaint regarding her affairs, however, deal more with her taste in men than his jealousy. Her favorite means of expression consists of wearing t-shirts printed with misquoted country song lyrics. He is confused by his wild-natured children, his employees, and his friends, and their wives. His circumstances become further confused when his high school sweetheart, who has enjoyed minor success as an actress in foreign films, returns to Texasville after the loss of her youngest child. The resulting story in "laugh out loud" and touching at once. | ||
