Book Review By Laura J. Miller
The Time of the Hunter's Moon by Victoria Holt

Cordelia Grant is sent to school in Switzerland where she meets some girls with whom she becomes best friends. They are told about an old legend about meeting the man you were going to marry by waiting in the woods during the time of the Hunter's Moon. The girls try it and see a man in the woods who expresses interest in Cordelia. When he suddenly stops calling on her, she moves on with her life and becomes a schoolmistress in her aunt's school for girls. Jason Verringer, a land baron with a scandalous reputation, starts pursuing Cordelia. She puts him off, concerned about his reputation as a murderer and womanizer.
