This book is a sequel to Mariel of Redwall it is after Mariel and Dandin leave Redwall and go on an adventure. The country of Southsward is being ruled by an evil foxwolf and his wife. After escaping from the castle the real queen gathers up forces with Mariel, Dandin and their friend Bowly Pintips to take back the castle.
