| Beatrice Poole, an author of "horrid novels", is seeking answers in her uncle's death. She is convinced that it has something to do with the Forbidden Rings of Aphrodite. With courage, she asks for the help of Leo Drake, the Mad Monk of Monkcrest. Leo doesn't care much about the rings, but refuses to let Beatrice go on the search alone.
