Into the Cold Fire - Daughters of the Moon 2 by Lynne Ewing

Lynne Ewing's DOTM #2 Into the Cold Fire is about a fifteen-year-old girl named Serena Killingsworth who has special mind powers and can read others' thoughts. She gets tricked into liking an evil Follower named Zahi and conducts an escape plan with her friends in case she gets turned into a Follower by Zahi's powerful mind control force. She agrees as part of her plan and steps into the cold fire, therefore resulting in Serena's becoming of a Follower. Her friends, the other Daughters battle her and push her, along with Zahi back in and they become normal again.
