Roses Are Red by James Patterson

Alex Cross is the only one intelligent enough to face the Mastermind who has orchestrated complex bank robberies turned murder. The Mastermind becomes even more intrusive as his murderous rampage does not exclude those in blue. He seems to always be one step ahead but Alex threatens his evil nemesis as he is the only one who can undo the Mastermind.
