Seize the Night by Dean Koontz

Christopher Snow is on a manhunt. A child has been kidnapped and taken to a nearby abandoned military research facility. Snow's own mother used to be the top researcher there. Intriqed, he works with friends to save the child and in the process learns more about his deceased mother. His search for the child is inhibited by a rare condition that prevents him from traveling in the sunlight causing all secret plotting to be done in the dark of night.
