This is the first book in David Weber's Honor Harrington series. In this book we meet Commander Harrington, who has just been given command of the light crusier Fearless. She and her crew are "exiled" to Basilisk station for having the unfortunate luck to be required to demonstrate an absurd new warfare technology. Her crew blames Honor for their present situation, but they are strongly loyal to her by the book's end. At Basilisk, Honor shakes things up when her old rivel dumps the responsiblities of Basilisk on her and she decides to actually enforce the written regulations. While on duty there, she discovers a plot by the People's Republic of Haven to take over her star system of Manticore, but she and her crew foil their plans. | ||
