In this book Honor is offered command of a vary small squadren of ships from the Manticorian Navy. The only catch is that these ships are converted merchant crusiers or Q-ships. Honor's powerful enemy, Klaus Hauptman has been suffering an increse in pirate raids on his merchant shipping in the Silesan Confederacy. Since the navy can't spare any officers to look into this problem, Hauptman proposes sending Honor to protect Manticorian shipping in the Confederacy becaause he will still be happy even if she dies while there. In her typical fashion, Honor does better than expected. She and her crew not only successfully patrol Silesia, they also eliminate the leader of a particularly nasty bunch of pirates. While on patrol, a Havinite threat to the Manticorian merchant marine is uncovered. In the end, Honor wins the support of Hauptman because of her actions to save his life and others aboard the ship that he is traveling on. Another interesting point is the introduction of another treecat named Samantha. She is with the engineer on Honor's Q-ship. | ||
