The Killing League by Philip J. Carraher

The Killing League is a secret organization composed of wealthy thrill-seekers, who want to taste the biggest thrill of all (in their minds) the life or death battle with other humans. Men are sought out (and not told about the League) either for battle or for slaughter. For example, a couple of criminals are offered a fortune to kidnap a senator's daughter. Unknown to them, money will not be their reward but rather death as a member of the League is slated to go to where the girl is held and kill the kidnappers. Their deaths complete the "game". This secret organization is run by one of the richest men in the world. But suddenly members of the League are doing the dying. Someone, unknown to the League, knows of their existence and is plotting, for personal reasons of revenge (his mother having died in one of the League's games) against the members.
