Book Review By Penny
The Dahomean by Frank Yerby

This is the story of a black man who was as close to being a member of the aristocracy in an African country as possible. Unfortunately other members of his culture betrayed him and sold him into slavery. Wesley Parks, his name in the American society he finds himself in, is a born leader and though his life as a slave is violent and inhumane at times he makes the best of it and survives in his new world. Frank Yerby, as always, entertains his readers with a book that is almost impossible to put down and it is one of the few books written that show a slave's past society, culture and way of life.
