Herland by Charlotte Perkins Gilman

A group of four adventurous American men stumble upon a remote island country inhabited solely by women. They stay within the country and learn the women's language, culture, and history. They also make the acquaintence of four women from this country with whom they have romantic encounters. There is much quarreling among the four men about what this women's country means, and how the women's successes where patriarchal society has failed reflects upon male rule. After a misguided attempt at romance with one of the women, the men are sent back to their land. One of the four women accompanies them home, in order to learn about the strange outside world inhabited by two sexes.
