Book Review By Andres Becerra
Kiss of the Spider Woman by Manuel Puig

Valentin is a fierce marxist revolutionary who has lost a lover. Molina is a homosexual who loves movies, accused of child molesting. They are odd cellmates in an Argentinean prison, and begin as opposites: Valentin thinks Molina is troublingly superficial; Molina believes Valentin overestimates ideals over feelings. Authorities try to use Molina as a way of getting information about Valentin's activist friends, but get no information.

Every night Molina narrates a movie, becomes a maternal figure when Valentin suffers from food poisoning, and they gradually become closer friends, changing each other dramatically.
