| In the island of Gema, in the Adriatic Sea, Jeronimo Franck, a wealthy man nicknamed "the Poet", proposes to Alia Emar, the most beautiful girl on the island. Nonetheless, Esteban Coppeta, descendant of a local hero, does not like the idea, for Alia has been his platonic love.
