When Phoebe's sister dies, the sister's widower decides to take Phoebe as a replacement, needing someone to keep his household in order. They had never really noticed each other before but once they start noticing they realize there is more to each other then previously suspected. Phoebe is a poet and a playwright, desperate to be noticed, Cato, the husband, is strong and honorable. Cato usually believes that his world should be filled with logic and order but soon finds that Phoebe's clumsiness and chaos is what he needs to break up the monotony.
