Jubal Sackett by Louis L'Amour

Jubal Sackett plans to wander the wilderness and learn its mysteries. However, he is sent on a quest to find a missing Indian princess and in so doing, makes a dangerous enemy, Kapata. Kapata wants the princess for his bride and is determined to find her first. Sackett keeps his word and finds Itchakomi, the princess. Now Sackett's and Kapata's missions collide and they both realize that the fight for the princess will be to the death. Adding in some Spanish soldiers and warring Indian tribes and Sackett has his hands full. His friendships, strength and courage will have to see him through.
