| Donna Summer, considered by many to be the "Queen of Disco", tells of her early beginnings as a member of a well-rounded Boston family. After realizing that singing is her chosen career, Summer, at the young age of 19, travels to Europe where she joins a band that results in a degree of fame on the continent.
She also attracts the attention of music producer Giorgio Moroder who sees her in a local production of "Hair". Moroder and his partner Pete Bellotte decide that Summer's voice is perfect to launch their new "sound", a combination of pop, rock, and danceable rhythms. She co-authors with them the song "Love to Love You, Baby" and it becomes an international hit. The singer triumphantly returns to America and becomes the darling of the emerging disco scene. A string of number one albums and singles takes her to the top of the charts. Combating her recording successes are a string of failed romantic relationships, record label battles, the pressures of touring, and Summer's ongoing struggle for personal fulfillment.
