Jewish doctoress Miriam is engaged to Benjamin Torres but ends up getting pregnant by his long-lost half-brother Rigo, a fierce mercenary and half-caste Indian. Struggling with guilt towards gentle Benjamin, the two marry and emigrate to the Torres estate in the Carribean. But someone is robbing transports from the estate and trying to kill Rigo.

Meanwhile, Benjamin adopts Rani, a wild gipsy girl, and tries to civilize her, staring by teaching her the virtues of bathing after 17 years of built-up dirt!
