Oath of Seduction: Seducing Sharon by Marly Chance

Although all Earth females were encouraged to register, to become part of a pool of potential mates for the Shimerian (alien) males, not all did. Once an Earth female reached the age of 30 or married an Earth male, she was removed from the register. Really only 1 in 20,000 Earth females was called upon to take the oath to marry an alien, and Sharon, at 29, thought that she was safe.

She spent her days in a boring routine, shelving books and puttering about her day to day life. So when Liken da'Kamon, a Shimerian enforcer or warrior cop, called her to fulfill her Oath to marry an alien, Sharon was stunned. Here was 6'7" of pure walking, talking sex and Sharon wasn't that experienced. But she knew that she had to take the Oath and at least try to make it work out with Liken, as penalties were steep for backing out. When faced with her three choices of courtship, Seduction, Challenge, or Capture, Sharon chose Seduction and was whisked off to Shimeria....

Liken would now have three weeks to persuade Sharon to love him. The Courtship Rules of Seduction stated that every intimacy Sharon allowed, Liken could use/do at any time, anywhere. The first day allowed kisses and whatever else the Earth woman allowed, the second day allowed full body contact through clothing, the third day allowed Liken to completely merge with Sharon - both physically and mentally.

Liken easily overwhelmed Sharon sexually and he forced her to face her fears of losing control. She was starting to adjust to Liken, but then he merged completely with her and she learned that he would always be in her mind. While still reeling from that sudden lack of privacy, Sharon learns that she still has the traditional Shimerian linking ceremony to look forward to where Tair, Liken's brother, will link/merge with her at the height of her orgasm. The more Sharon learns about Shimerian society, the more she is certain that she doesn't belong there, but Liken isn't about to let her go....

This was a great novel to kick off the series and Marly Chance does a fine job of setting up the world of Shimeria and explaining how Earth and Shimeria set up the contract between their worlds. Liken was a very sexy, alpha male who had some learning and growing to do while he was trying to persuade Sharon to stay, which kept him human instead of being too perfect. Sharon was a little wimpy at the beginning, but she quickly progressed and grew to love Liken. The sex scenes were extremely hot, too!

I would have enjoyed learning more about the Shimerian culture and more about Liken's job as an enforcer, but it was still enjoyable. Marly Chance also spent quite a bit of time explaining why women were linked to two men and all of the dangers and everything, but there was no danger anywhere, not even a hint, so I felt that the explanation was a little weak. Still, Marly Chance is a very good writer with a smooth writing style, well-developed characters, hot sex scenes and creative world building. I look forward to reading more from her in the future! (This book is available in ebook format, not just burned onto a CD-rom.)
