Book Review By Alex Wolstenholme
Liverpool - Wondrous Place by Paul Du Noyer

Paul Du Noyer sets out to discover why his home town Liverpool, an industrial port in Northern England has produced so much of the world's greatest music over the last fifty years.

Obviously The Beatles play a large part in this history but there are great stories about over 30 other bands and musicians from Gerry and the Pacemakers to Atomic Kitten.

The author looks at the history of Liverpool, the first place in England to receive immigrants in large numbers through its docks and also the scene of mass immigration to America. The city's economic meltdown of the 1970's and 1980's and what caused it is also looked at.

The book ends on a high note as the City looks forward to a renaissance in the 21st Century, inspired by its music.
