What's a Girl Gotta Do? by Sparkle Hayter

Robin Hudson is a divorcee working a job she enjoys but a position she hates. She was demoted from her reporter's job after an unfortunate incident at a White House press conference. She had no intentions of attending the company New Year's Eve party until she received a package that gave certain details about her she didn't think anyone else would no, and a suggestion to meet the provider of said information in a given room in the hotel at which the party was held. So, she goes, even though she knows she will run into her reporter ex and his perky new girlfriend. Unfortunately, before Robin gets the chance to speak with the sneak who sent the package, he turns up dead. Because she had been seen near his room (as well as the fact that she has a penchant for makeshift weapons), Robin is a suspect. She knows she didn't kill the man, but when she starts digging, she finds several potential suspencts among her associates. This is a comical story that gives a behind-the-scenes look at journalism on television. Robin is quirky, sometimes irritable, and ultimately a very likable character.
