Book Review By Jennifer Selk
Mary, Bloody Mary by Carolyn N. Meyer

This story is a fictionalized account of the childhood and history of Mary Tudor, daughter of Henry VIII and one-time Queen of England. She is a princess who is to inherit the throne of England until her father decides he no longer wants to be married to her mother, Queen Catherine. In the aftermath of her parent's separation, Mary is taken from her mother, abused by an evil stepmother (Anne Boleyn), stripped of her title, and forced to care for her baby stepsister, Elizabeth, who inherits Mary's rights to the throne. Entirely based on true historical events, this book recounts the torrid history of the Tudors in the voice of a young Mary struggling against forces beyond her control.
